Why the Abuja-Keffi Road May not be Expanded. Ive been wondering why the Abuja-Keffi Expressway hasnt been expanded beyond its present dual carriage status. Recently, i hit at what i presume to be the reason. Opposite the Abacha Barracks is a highbrow estate called the Sunrise Hill Estate, reportedly belonging to the high and mighty. Skyscrapers are fast springing up there, some very close to the expressway. Do you think they would be demolished to accommodate the needed expansion of the road? Of course, not. Again, on both sides of the road, before AYA junction, you see this sign This Land Belongs to the Nigerian Navy, one of which is currently undergoing construction. Do you think these lands would be sacrificed for a needed expansion of the road? Again, no! Meanwhile, the FCT Minister seems to have abandoned the Nyanya-Karshi road and other proposed by-passes, meant to reduce traffic congestion on the road.
