Why was there tension between LDF and LMPS? Ive always - TopicsExpress

Why was there tension between LDF and LMPS? Ive always dissmised the view that our political system is a problem, rather I think the problem lies with the individuals! Are we then to blame Lt. Gen. Kamoli, Lt. Gen. Mahao, Commissioner Tsoana OR Politicians? One expectation of the goal oriented institutions is that they ought to be APOLITICAL and should serve to promote the common good of the people. In Lesotho however, this expectation is unfamiliar or rather, politicians and heads of security forces are rather not familiar with the concept apolitical. It is with reference to the writtings of one Ancient Greek Political Philosopher (Plato) that I stand to ponder Lesotho as being where it is because of the the two classess in our society which appear to mingle in one anothers business, that is the Guardians(rulers) interfering in the Auxiliaries(military) affairs and vice verser. This if I may bring it to our contemporary politics, we are made to believe that, Dr. Thabane apparently has the support of the police while his deputy, Mr Mothetjoa Metsing, commands the loyalty of the army. My analysis therefore stem from the above allegation. Why should it be like this? Why do politicians use our institutions to fight their political battles? Why is it that those who command this goal oriented institutions let themselves to be used by politicians? I shall not be long but I wish to confess that, I write not to offend nor undermine anyone, but simply to try and make sense out of the current political unrest and the then stand-off betwix the army and the police. Plato therefore indicate that, in the name of harmonious relations between the classes outlined above, each class should stick to doing what it does best, that is to say, the guardians are charged with with pursuing the common good of the society and in his words he wrote; the life of the guardians may not sound attractive but the happiness of the city state is more important than the happiness of the class... In essence, Plato recommends that those with political power should focus on serving the interests of the nation, and NOT their intrests as a class. He discourages selfishness and the willingness to put the nation through a series of political unrest in order to meet ones personal interests. To our men and women in UNIFORM; You are supposed to be apolitical, let not yourselves be the instruments of some political elites. I simply want to conclude by saying, Eo e leng sera ho naha ea Lesotho, e kebe sera mahlong a Molimo. Molimo o boloke Lesotho le Basotho. By Thuso D Mosabala
