Why wasnt this investigated $13 billion and in 3 years $100 billion??? it still can be.. What does Keating and his friends and family own, where did all that money go??? Favoritism and nepotism we all know this from the government system. This is when Australia was getting sold off.. Government spending is completely out of control to the extent that total government deficits in 1985 were $13 billion and by 1988 international debt will reach a staggering $100 billion. Of every $100 borrowed by the government $93 is spent to service interest payments on past debits. Treasurer Keating could no longer gloss over these hard facts and was compelled to make his famous Banana Public statement in mid-1986. With our vast natural resources and highly educated population, we should be amongst the prosperous nations in the world. HOW MANY ZEROS IN A BILLION? The next time you hear a politician use the word billion in a casual manner, think about whether you want the politicians spending YOUR tax money. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
