Why we need net neutrality. Lets review how we got to todays internet: 1. American taxpayers funded its development, through military information systems and universities. 2. Then control over transmission was given to private corporations. 3. Today those corporations have de facto monopolies in most cities, and Americans pay more for crappy internet service than citizens in two dozen other countries. 4. Now these companies want to be able to slow down internet transmissions for providers who dont pay a premium, and we can expect that WE will pay those costs one way or another. 5. Obama campaigned in support of net neutrality in 2008 then appointed a comm industry lobbyist to lead the agency regulating it. 6. The administrations proposal is now to end net neutrality and we are in a comment period where you may voice your support or opposition at this FCC site: apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/upload/display?z=alab3
