Why would Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old brain cancer sufferer, so publically take her own life? I would like to think she went public in an attempt to give meaning to a seemingly meaningless 29 year life. I know as I look back on my life of 59 years I despair at times in the struggle to find meaning in it. I can only imagine what this poor, young women went through. Thus, I would like to think that she came to see her planned and scheduled death as a symbol for others in the same situation to look upon (and even emulate) in order to find freedom from suffering. That said it is not Brittanys example but the example gifted us by those who struggle on, enduring to the end that speaks to the boundless strength and magnificence of the human spirit.
