Why would teachers who are dedicated to their students stage a sick out which only hurts the kids? According to this article 99% of teachers received a raise and that under the BOE plan only 66 teachers did not receive a raise while if the union plan had been adopted 450 teachers would have received no raise. So what is the issue? As far as a board committee to review curriculum if this is the motive for a sick out this is nothing unusual and so again what is the issue? The board has even voted on the AP history committee and so why the uproar? Do we really want to model to kids that if you dont like the rules, who is making the rules or just want to disagree, that it is okay to just walk out on your job? If there is something we are missing we would love to hear from those who may have more facts or a better explanation.
