Whyteleafe 5.0 East Grinstead Leafe were on rampant form and in all seriousness it could have been 8, such was their superiority over an East Grinstead team that ended the game looking shellshocked and chasing shadows. A brace from Roscoe inside the first half hour took Leafe into a a comfortable 2-0 half time lead. It should really have been 3-0 and a Roscoe hat-trick but unfortunately the legend missed an easy chance after Greg Andrews set him up delightfully. Leafe started the 2nd half a bit sluggishly but eventually clicked into gear again. Ryan Fowler made it 3-0 with a cheeky finish before substitute Tommy Harper scored a goal that will live long in the memory of anyone that witnessed it. Greg Andrews with his back to goal on the left wing played a wonderful crossfield pass out to the right wing where Sam Clayton picked it up and pinged in a pin point cross onto Harpers head who looped his header across goal over the outstretched keeper and into the far corner. It was an exquisite goal both on a team play and individual basis and if it had been scored by Arsenal would have had the MOTD panel purring with delight. Leafe werent content to sit back with their lead and continued to push at the weary Wasps. It was another sub Shawn Lyle who grabbed the 5th after running on to a loose ball and blasting it past the keeper. He could have had a 2nd shortly after following a run down the right but his shot was wide. The East Grinstead keeper hadnt had the greatest of evenings but he pulled 2 fine saves out of the bag late on to deny the outstanding Andrews what would have been a deserved goal. Firstly from a fizzing, dipping free kick from 25 yards and then from a stinging shot from 20 yards. Leafe left the field to victorious cheers from the vocal home support and must now go into Saturdays home FA Cup tie with Hastings with great confidence. Church Road at 3pm on Saturday is the place to be. Dont miss it!
