Wide range of topics covered at Valley Economic Alliance forecast session Primers on water conservation, drones and social media on Friday highlighted the first Valley Economic Alliance Executive Forecast. The event at the Hilton Hotel in Woodland Hills attracted 155 people who listened to presentations from Martin L. Adams, deputy senior assistant general manager of water operations at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power; Simon Nielsen, founder and CEO of Ctrl.Me Robotics, and Tom Lorenz, Glendale’s director of communications and community relations. The three also sat down for a panel discussion after their presentations. Kenn Phillips, VEA president and CEO, was pleased with this initial endeavor. “All of the customer surveys that came in gave us high marks,” he said. “The thing they liked the best was the ability to learn about the different types of technology and innovation and the cross talk between the industries.” The alliance is planning to hold another forecast conference in September in either Glendale or Burbank, he said. While the three topics were different, they had common ground. Adams, who said that progress is being made in the city’s water conservation effort, said that the department does use drones to check on equipment. “They are actually very efficient,” he said.
