Widely admired for his #ceramic crystalline glaze technique, #potter Elliot Newton found a new lease on life through his art. In fact, ask Elliot and hell tell you that art saved his life. Known as the the Potter of La Quinta, Elliot turned to art as means of therapy after surviving a quadruple heart bypass operation; his mantra became, “Not a day without creating art.” And so, he fires up three kilns nearly every day creating beautiful, functional, porcelain clay pieces. I draw influence from the Greek, Ramon and Asian ceramic styles and incorporate the shapes into my work, says the well loved IWAF artist. After each piece is created and bisque fired, I used a crystalline glaze technique which adds a modern touch to the piece, making it appreciated for todays décor. It’s my passion, my pleasure, and I am thankful to be doing it every day,” he says.
