Wild Behaviour by Humans Makes Wildlife Sanctuary Polluted The complete lack of civic sense on the part of picnickers and tourists, is gradually turning the coveted Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary in Sukna into a garbage dump. A concerned citizen from Sukna, Ms. Triveni Shukla says, “The Sukna bazaar is already littered but within a few months, the littering has gone beyond that and reached the jungle...” Highlighting the main problems facing Sukna, Triveni says, “Sukna has no garbage disposal area/ facility although it has a dense population. We all either have to burn the plastic or dump it in a rivulet already choked with garbage.” Given the fact that all the tons under GTA are super polluted, there were a few pockets of freshness and greenery left, but now even that seems to be becoming a victim of human negligence and apathy. We request the GTA to develop a comprehensive Solid-Waste Management Plan for the GTA region, so that each town and village has a proper waste management system, which promotes – reduce, reuse, repair, recycle and compost.
