Wild Turkey Egg Update (January 20, 2015): Of the 8 wild - TopicsExpress

Wild Turkey Egg Update (January 20, 2015): Of the 8 wild turkey eggs which I found out in the woods yesterday morning from one of my wanderlust wild turkey hens, this is the disposition of the eggs: Four of the eggs were split due to freezing and were thawed and eaten. The remaining four eggs were given away this afternoon to a lady in Big Lake and have been placed in an incubator! My best guess is that in 28 days one of the four eggs will indeed produce a chick! This guess is based on the assumption that the embryos of three of the eggs have been destroyed due to the freezing weather and that the fourth egg was laid shortly before I found the nest, and therefore contains life within the shell! The mother hen has since been placed in a heated pen with the chickens! I have asked the lady who is incubating the eggs to let us know how this drama turns out!
