Wilderness Advocates Descend on Washington D.C. Wilderness Week, an activist gathering to honor our history and discuss the next 50 years of wilderness protection, begins today. Wilderness Week participants representing different organizations will be meeting with elected officials to encourage them to support wilderness bills currently languishing in Congress. Wilderness Week activities include: meetings with congressional leaders; a celebration event and after-hours tour of the Wilderness Forever photography exhibit at the Smithsonians National Museum of Natural History; a lecture by leading American environmental historian William Cronon; and the September 17th gala dinner.
