Wiley has made himself at home, and made a friend while hes at it. - TopicsExpress

Wiley has made himself at home, and made a friend while hes at it. He and Mallie run around and play-fight a LOT! In fact, I think he tires her out ... and thats something NO other dog has managed to do! LOL Youll likely find that most of the pictures I take of him are sleeping poses. Thats because its the only time he holds still long enough to get the camera! LOL Hes usually a black blur! Having only 3 legs certainly hasnt slowed down his running speed. He is a VERY energetic, intelligent boy and has to be kept busy and thinking. As is the case with Border Collie crosses (I suspect his cross is Sheba Inu, which would make him doubly-smart), he is almost impossible to tire out physically, but make him think and work out a problem, and the mental exhaustion will have him napping like the first two pictures. Wiley loves toys, loves to play, loves other dogs, loves meeting new people, loves running around ... no matter his breeding, hes just a big love-hound! He likes the resident foster cat too! (He hasnt tried to eat her, so thats a good thing! LOL) Wileys one flaw, if you can even call it that, is that hes still pretty terrified of stairs, and kind of nervous about slippery floor surfaces. Having only 3 legs has reduced his balance and traction, so hes likely wiped out and hurt his recent amputation area a time or two. Given a few months and some gentle coaxing, hell likely master the stairs again. Itll just take time and patience for him to gain the confidence and get fully accustomed to his awesome Tri-Pod Status. It may not even take a few months, as hes already mastered going up and down the stairs from our basement to the garage (shown in the third picture). Yes, thats Wiley at the top of the stairs looking all proud of himself for mastering those big, scary, HARD steps! ;) Way to go, Wiley! Thats my brave boy! My back truly appreciates that new skill, big guy! ha-ha!
