June 13,hospital in Galveston, Mr. Sessions, your father has a brain tumor covering 50% of the right hemisphere of his brain. Since it has been allowed to go untreated this long, Im sorry, but there is nothing we can do. My estimate is that he has 2-3 months to live. Again, Im sorry. July 5, 6 a.m. R.I.P. Daddy. Now, we deserve the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. ... protecting the privacy rights of patients, we are not authorized to divulge further information concerning this patient, including his diagnosis and treatment. The identity of the patient is of no concern so by all means, please continue to protect his rights. But as the leader of information in our community, it is your responsibility to keep us thoroughly and honestly informed on serious healthcare issues. One patients rights are not the only rights to be considered here. We know all too well how misinformation and rumors can turn a relatively peaceful community into a firestorm of panic. The hospital was on lockdown for the concern of Ebola, not an ingrown toenail. If the information you passed on to us is all there is, then thank you for informing us. But in your heart and gut, do you really think they told you everything? That rarely happens and we both know it? This is your community as well. We live here. The owners of that hospital do not. Im not asking you to tell us what we want to hear, Im imploring you to make sure that what weve been told is all there is. I would do the same for you, and would not rest until it was done. Thank you for your efforts up to this point.
