Will those days ever come again? I remember with nostalgic and enthusiasm those days when the dressing code of my teacher was stocked in shirr on a long brown khaki knicker with a very long stocking and his left hand adored with a long cane (woe betide a child who comes late to school), I remembered today when I led my class scoring the highest mark in Yoruba Language and my teacher shook my hand and cap it up by paying an unscheduled visit to my house to say welldone boy oh my God and for a very long time I became the toast of every body in my street look at the boy that his teacher shook his hand For a period I refused to wash my hand so that my teachers hand will nt be robbed off. Hmn, what do u see today? Today we have given ourselves a second colonial slavery where parents instruct and encourage their children not to ever communicate in their mother tongues, come and hear some children names you will marvel wether their parents are even African. Trying to assist a patient in one of those times when there was thick patients ttaffic behold the one by my front, a typical Yoruba person from Osun told me my Childs name is MELODY and the father is MIRACLE and that becomes Melody Miracle (a Yoruba person) The govt does not even help the situation, today the compulsory subject that qualifies you to go higher is English and Mathematics and our traditional languages Efik, Ibibio, Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa etc becomes optional- a situation where Yoruba questions are even written in English. The question remains; who is enslaving another? The river that forgets its source, dont worry just exercise a little patience, it would soon dry up and the remaining will be history. The question: Will those days ever come again?
