Will you watch this and tell me what you think? Most actors or celebrities handle interviews with a view towards providing _content_. That, after all, is what theyre there for. Host: What do you think about X? Actor: Well, in general, I think Y about X. But, also I think you should consider Z... Host: Is it true that you did this? Actor: Yes, but I also did that... Peter OToole (incidentally my very favorite actor) has this strange way of responding to Charlie Rose. Rose asks him a question and he sits there and breathes, thinking about it. And then he answers. And you have the impression that his answer is absolutely un-scripted. Sometimes he does nothing more than provide a nod or a grunt, and yet, hes _answering_ in some very meaningful way. The effect is such that if he does hold forth on an answer, you _really_ pay attention to his holding forth, so that one is left with the impression of absolute sincerity and transparency in the interview. I sense Charlie Rose is sometimes frustrated, left holding the ball, so to speak, so that hes forced to quickly add another question, just to fill the silence. Does POT know that? Is he toying with him? Is he demonstrating an immense passive-aggressive ego? Or is he actually doing something keenly meaningful?
