Willem swung wildly as the frothing monstrosity crashed into him, - TopicsExpress

Willem swung wildly as the frothing monstrosity crashed into him, carrying them both to the sodden ground with the force of its charge. He wretched violently with the close proximity of the creature that seemed to be rotting before his eyes; the stench bringing tears to his eyes and the swarms of angrily buzzing flies a palpable force of their own. All around him the sounds of battle blanketed the field, even the steady downpour doing little to dampen the nightmarish score of war. Nor did the frigid rain lessen the horrific stink of their opponents, each a towering totem to their rank and evil gods. The battle had been long, and bloody, but the men of Nordland were gaining the upper hand and Willems desperate struggle against this putrid champion would win the day. If he could get out from underneath the hideously mis-shapen fiend. His sword arm was pinned beneath the bulk of the creature; slimy, disease-ridden innards looping and coiling around his wrist - threatening to separate him from his weapon. Reaching down into his other boot, fingers scrabbling in the muddy slurry, Willem drew the needle-pointed dirk he kept secreted there. Though slippery in the muck, his grip was sure and he stabbed the fine blade into the blubber along his opponents side. A wound that would incapacitate a mortal man barely made this thing flinch; but the brief jerking motion was enough for the Duellist to free himself. With surprising speed the monster regained its feet and the two traded blows; mortal sword against the clamour of a rusted bell on a twisted staff, spiked and festering. Though Willem was exhausted, and the creature fought with implacable strength, through a series of daring feints and parries he threw the vast bulk to the ground, skewering it through folds of gelatinous flesh. A strange, strangled sound erupted from the things ruined throat, not the death rattle that Willem expected, but laughter. Incensed, the Duellist twisted the blade cruelly but the creature raised itself slightly and laughed harder. Too stupid to know your own demise, monster? Willem panted, avoiding the urge to gag as vile fluids erupted from the creatures body. You are beaten Beaten, mortal? We are Legion. It pointed over Willems shoulder and then fell to the ground; laughter literally breaking its form apart. The Duellist turned around with a sense of horror as the daemons last words whispered in the aether: Our reinforcements have arrived Alex Polley Simon ONeill Adrian Snow Richy Moore Chris Burr Ty Mensinga Mitchell German Orders to be collected on Saturday: Rhys Barnes Orders still remain in store for: Ben Johnsen Adam OConnor James Quaife Ryan Doherty Matt Kelly
