William ‘Bill’ Roger Davis Sat Aug 6th MAPLE FORK — William “Bill” Roger Davis, age 74, of Maple Fork, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. Born on September 9, 1936, at Maynor, he was the son of the late William Troy Davis and Bernice Wingfield Davis. Bill was a member of the UMWA Local #29, and was a retired coal miner and construction worker. He was a member of the Maple Fork Baptist Church at Maple Fork, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Chessie Ellison, and his grandparents Sparal and Gertie Davis. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Barbara Ellison Davis; Daughters, Angel Davis and Sherry Davis, both of Maple Fork, a son, Jerry Davis of Oak Hill; a granddaughter that was more like a daughter, Mysti Davis Baker, and a great-granddaughter, Megan Baker, his pride and joy, both of Maple Fork. His extended family, Dave and Ruby Riley, Mack and Dorothy Ellison, Jerry and Charlotte Ellison, Lee and Bobbie Ellison, George and Terri Ellison, Mary Edmonds, and a host of nieces and nephews, and his best friend, Hayden Ellison. Funeral services will be conducted at the Maple Fork Baptist Church on Monday, August 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, West Virginia. Friends may call at the church from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, and also one hour prior to the services on Monday. Pallbearers will be John Paul Lovelace, Chris Lovelace, Dean Lovelace, Allen Bragg, Austin Bragg, John Ellison, Kelly Davis, Rogers Stowers Jr. and Mike Ellison. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the CCU at Raleigh General Hospital and the Bowers Hospice House.
