William Carvalho: The Gunners have been linked with 22-year-old Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder, William Carvalho for a while now and news recently broke that a new £20m bid is being prepared by the North London club. The Gunners were reported to have put in a £20m bid for the 22-year-old which the Portuguese club rejected in the summer but desperate measures would make the Portuguese club accept the offer, if reports are to be believed. Carvalho, who has been linked to the North London club all summer long, was put on sale by his employers and said to have a £37m buyout clause in his contract. However, the club’s desperation to sell as a result of their critical financial situation is now forcing them to sell at ‘substantially’ below his £37m buy-out fee with fees paid upfront and not in instalments. The player is also said to be part-owned by an investment company, Banco Espirito Santo, which has 40% stake in the transfer fee, if the deal happens, meaning if an agreement is reached with a club for £28m, only £14m would go to the club. Arsenal fans would highly appreciate a move for Carvalho as he has been described closest to Patrick Vieira from all defensive midfielders the Gunners have been linked to. #UNA
