William MacRae. In the highlands near Fort William, a car lies across a stream A man lay slumped and dying but all’s not as it seems They thought it was a car crash or maybe suicide But the evidence we looked for was quickly cast aside Scotland had just lost William MacRae. Two briefcases were yards away, beside them papers lay And a gun was there beside them, belonging to, William MacRae Not once but twice they shot him, two bullets to the brain He frightened “them”, he knew too much, about their nuclear waste campaign. An SNP man murdered, who were “they”? The Secret Service, MI5, it’s their job to infiltrate Did they know the route he took? Did they lie in wait? One bullet yes to suicide but two, you must decide His gun was just a pistol, from an automatic gun he died! The police were forced to leave this unresolved. Before his death he’d tell his friends, “His cover” had been blown They didn’t get what they were looking for but his life was not his own They’d plant their spies in meeting rooms, phones tapped of every call The MI5 could find no flaws but their leader spoke for all A radical, a lawyer, acting for the Free. Murrell, Peachman, many more, were killed fighting for their cause More were jailed for speaking out, in their Scotland that once was They spoke of Independence then; this freedom’s nothing new It’s come full circle once again and is now long overdue. Aye.
