William & William Gabuelo Badminton Academy (WWGBA) in cooperation with Alabang Town Center (ATC) and Playground Badminton Court organized this badminton tournament for the growth and development of Badminton as an international sport in the Philippines. The format dwells with the age-group as a grass-roots development program and the professionals to continue the glow of enthusiasm and love of the sport among the enthusiast. 2. DATE | VENUE | EVENT: • Qualifying Stage: May 17 8:00 am | Playground Badminton Court | Age Group • Qualifying Stage: May 18 8:00 am | Playground Badminton Court | MD, LD, MXD • Final Rounds: May 24 10:00 am | Alabang Town Center | Age Group • Final Rounds: May 25 10:00 am | Alabang Town Center | MD, LD, MXD AGE GROUP: 11 & UNDER BOYS & GIRLS SINGLES & DOUBLES 13 & UNDER BOYS & GIRLS SINGLES & DOUBLES 15 & UNDER BOYS & GIRLS SINGLES & DOUBLES LEVEL DOUBLES: MENS DOUBLES LEVEL A – E LADIES DOUBLES LEVEL A – E MIXED DOUBLES LEVEL A- E 3. GOVERNING RULES This tournament shall be governed by the Laws of Badminton as amended and adopted by BWF during the current year. The organizers and tournament director shall be the ultimate governing body authorized to officiate during the tournament proper. Decisions for the purpose of resolving issues shall be final and executory. The organizers and tournament director likewise reserves the right to issue official and final decisions on matters not covered by any of the rules written in this document. 4. ELIGIBILITY, LEVELLING & DRAW 4.1 For Age Group Players - (Singles & Doubles) • 4.1.1 Photocopy of NSO Certified Birth Certificate must be attached. • 4.1.2 Tampered NSO certificates shall be considered grounds for disqualification. • 4.1.3 Age group categories will be as follows: 11 & under, 13 & under, 15 & under. • 4.1.4 Age cut-off shall be the player’s birth-date on or before the set FINALS date. • 4.1.5 Deadline of submission of entries is on May 11, 2014 5:00 PM. • 4.1.6 Draw date is on May 12, 2014, 4:00 pm at Playground Badminton Court. 4.2 For Level Doubles Players • 4.2.1 Open to players 16 years old & above. • 4.2.2 Age cut-off shall be the player’s birth-date before the set FINALS date. • 4.2.3 Former and Current National Team members are NOT allowed to participate. • 4.2.4 Former and Current College Varsity players, coaches and trainers are allowed to participate provided they will automatically be classified under Level-A. • 4.2.5 Deadline for submission of entries and draw date (refer to 4.1.5 & 4.1.6) • 4.2.6 Leveling starts April 21, 2014 at Playground Badminton Court: • 4.2.7 Entries and eligibility shall be determined, evaluated and approved by the committee. 5. TOURNAMENT FORMAT The tournament format for age-group is the knock-out system by draw lots. On the other hand, the level doubles will use the single-round-robin format by grouping. 6. SCORING • Qualifying stage: Singles will use race to 35 sudden death rally point. Change of court at18. • Semi-finals & Finals: Best of 3 games, race to 21 rally point system (BWF standard). 7. COACHING Coaching will be allowed during regulation intervals. Only one (1) coach is allowed to stay beside the court while games are at play. One (1) coach’s chair will be provided for this purpose. 8. INJURIES In the event of injury, treatment shall be allowed for five (5) minutes. Muscle Cramps is not considered an injury. After which the umpire shall verify with the injured player whether or not he/she can resume play. If for any reason, the injured player cannot continue, the umpire shall declare the opposing player or team winner by retirement. 9. SHUTTLECOCK The official shuttlecock of the event is TBA. No other shuttlecocks shall be allowed during the competition. 11. ATTIRE • Qualifying stage: All Players are required to comply with the prescribed badminton attire. • Semi Final and Final Rounds: Players who will make it to the Semi-final and final rounds are requested to wear their respective uniforms (at least for upper garments). 12. DEFAULTING OF PLAYERS All players are required to report to match-control 30 minutes before their designated match. Players who are not in their designated courts 10 minutes after the 1st call shall be defaulted in favor of the opposing player/team as winner by default. 13. INDEMNITY The organizers of this tournament and their designated officials shall not be held liable on injuries players and spectators in participation of this tournament. 14.
