Wilson showed that the cognitive losses from multitasking are even greater than the cognitive losses from pot‑smoking.(from an article in today’s guardian.) I wonder if this is the reason that a naturally looking person at karaoke on Friday night was heard to say the following: don’t give up the day job (as a singer stepped down from the karaoke stage) he should sing that to his wife not all he sluts he picks up (whilst an elderly man crooned) she crucified that song (as one of our regulars delivered her favourite song) I am like marmite, you like me or hate me !! She left the pub promptly when told the truth about her behaviour. I have always supported the good effects of karaoke and, am somewhat surprised to witness such a vehement attack on people out for a good time. Karaoke is an opportunity for all people brave enough to express themselves to do so in safe and comfortable surroundings. I too make use of ‘gizmos’ and perhaps my own spells of bad behaviour are triggered off by the confusing and frustrating multitasking needed to keep up with the ‘joneses’ I am not against advancement and certainly enjoy the thrill and adrenaline rush of multitasking. I do however, not wish to lose modesty, goodwill and good behaviour towards others.
