Wiltshire Online is committed to removing the barriers to getting online and we are pleased to announce the continued success of our refurbished, low cost laptop scheme. The laptops are donated by Wiltshire Council, are refurbished and set up ready to use for under £60. Those eligible include the over 60s, those with a disability, on low incomes and carers and a total of 242 laptops have been purchased by those eligible. We have a further 100 available for distribution and approximately 100 are still being refurbished. Our partners promote the service and we now offer collection from Wiltshire Council hubs. The sales from the hubs are managed through an appointments only process coordinated by Business Support Officers in the Programme Office. This has enabled the project to extend its demographic and be able to target more people who meet the eligibility criteria. Payments can be made by cheque, cash or debit card. We are already developing a waiting list for laptops for eligible recipients. If you know of a partner or charity that is working with individuals who meet the eligibility criteria and who would be interested to learn more about this scheme and get involved ask them to register their interest either by calling 0300 003 4572 or emailing [email protected]
