Frank Kimmel will drive the #13 ThorSport truck at Iowa, his first NCWTS start in 9 years. MotoGP: Pedrosa shooting for 4th straight Sachenring MotoGP victory. Jorge Lorenzo was fastest in first session, crashed and reinjured his shoulder in second practice and WILL NOT race. He damaged the titanium plate from his previous surgery only two weeks ago. He may also miss Laguna Seca. Jorge is only 9 points behind Pedrosa. Practice 1: Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Rossi, Marquez, Bradl Practice 2: Bradl, Pedrosa, Marquez, Lorenzo, Rossi, Hayden. F1: Mercedes hopes to get SOME running at the young drivers test at Silverstone. They were banned from the test as punishment for a secret Pirelli test earlier in the season. Mercedes claims that since new tires are to be introduced for the next race at Hungary that it is a safety issue. Kimi Raikkonen will drive in Silverstone’s test for one day for Lotus. Lotus is meeting this week with Kimi’s management team to try to keep him in a Lotus for next season. FIA announces pit lane crackdowns after a cameraman was injured by a loose tire at the German GP. Pit lane speed limits are reduced to 80km/h and 60km/h. Helmets are mandatory for all pit crew who go “over the wall”, camera crews and broadcast personnel are banned from pit lane during all sessions. Some media may be allowed behind the pit wall…not clarified at this point.
