Winds will continue to increase over the next few hours whilst rain continues to push east, clearing from the west. Winds are likely to be damaging and disruptive across some northern areas, but especially across the Northern and Western Isles and the north west and far north of Scotland. The 1st image from Netweather.tv shows maximum wind gusts during the early hours of Friday. Further wet and windy conditions with hill snow in Northern Scotland then spread in from the west across all areas later on Friday into Saturday. Strong winds more widespread bringing the risk of some localised disruption, but again northern areas are likely to see the strongest of those winds. The 2nd image shows the maximum wind gusts by early Saturday morning. The showers mostly across northern areas where conditions will also be colder with the risk of those showers turning wintry. Some significant accumulations of snow to hills and mountains, and some localised accumulations of snow to in land lower levels of Scotland and possibly Northern Ireland. Staying milder further south and largely dry with sunny spells once any morning rain clears. The 3rd image shows wintry showers by midday on Saturday.
