Windsurfing at the National Stadium, Warsaw 05/09/14 – 07/09/14 During the first weekend in September Warsaw will host the Indoor Windsurfing World Cup. The competition is part of the prestigious PWA World Tour. A giant pool will be built on the stadium’s pitch that will measure 90 metres long and 33 metres wide. Filing it with three thousand cubic meters of water will take more than two days, about 50 hours. The most spectacular is the “Wave & Jump”. Competitors use a ramp to jump and perform various stunts. Another exciting event is the slalom with four surfers racing around a marked figure-of-eight course. The most creative is the final competition, freestyle, where the winner achieves the most points from the judges for their performed tricks. The National Stadium will welcome the highest ranked competitors according to the Professional Windsurfers Association and include the nine-time world champion, the Australian Steve Allen.
