Windy wind, push us to Shroud Cay! We made it to a delectable bit - TopicsExpress

Windy wind, push us to Shroud Cay! We made it to a delectable bit of the world. This is a beautiful uninhabited island where we met some dogs who, at low tide, visit the other islands and then go back home at low tide again. We took a rainy but exciting dinghy ride through the creek to a lookout point near the ocean and climbed Camp Driftwood, breathtaking. Then we met some creatures that were sucking on our boat bottom; thanks guys. Shroud was lovely. Then to the Exuma Land and Sea Park, what a neat piece of the world. We picked up a mooring (thank you LAHOWIND for the tip!) that is literally a small strip of deep water a midst white sand with mooring balls and then stared at the bones of the sperm whale on beach. This park had so many wonderful trails, we loved it. BooBoo Hill was the best. Cruisers from all over the world stop here and they leave behind driftwood mementos marking their time here. We of course had to join in and carve our own driftwood piece of Kasablanca to leave behind. We LOVE to snorkel. It is like putting on a mask and being transported onto a different planet. Plus, it makes Felicia feel like a mermaid, shes kind of disappointed that she isnt one :) We hadnt had any opportunities to snorkel in the Bahamas yet, and that is saying something as we love to do it. We have taken the dinghy and scoped some places out, but with the high winds it hasnt been calm enough to go. Then, we stopped at OBriens Cay because we were going to have one non-windy day. As we set anchor we noticed that right next to OBriens was Johnny Depps island (we knew he had bought one around here but didnt know where). We looked for him to offer him some of Erics home brewed beer but he must not have been in town. There were two snorkel sites that are part of the Land and Sea Park: The Aquarium and an old plane site. We happily dinghied over to the Aquarium (across from Johnnys house) and upon our arrival to the dinghy mooring, we were greeted by hundreds of tropical fish. They were clearly tame, well hello little guys! Talk about transportation to another world, it was the most beautiful bunch of coral we have ever seen, and so many fish; stingrays, rainbow-fish, angelfish and so many that we didnt know what they all were. It was magnificent. After basking in that glory we went over to the plane site. More coral and a pretty much all-in-one-piece plane! A-FREAKING-MAZING. We are in awe. We are currently in Staniel Cay where we will meet the swimming pigs on Pig Beach YEEEESSSS!!!
