Wine Tasting Saturday January 3rd 3-5pm: For the first tasting of the New Year, were revisiting some oft-overlooked gems from the French department, as well as offering a great single vineyard Riesling from Washington State. First off, Moulin de Gassacs Guilhem starts with a crisp, aromatic blend of Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Clairette to get your appetite started and your palate revved up. Pacific Rims Solstice Vineyard Riesling 2009 (only 224 cases ever made) raises the intensity with a richer take on Riesling, without resorting to a sweet rendition. Tortoise Creek hits the table with a fuller flavored red, Carignan, from the same area as the Guilhem. Well finish with a peppery version of Syrah from the northern Rhône in Les Vins de Viennes Saint-Joseph. So start your new year off right, with good wines and good times. Well see you at the table.
