Winfield Parents/Guardians, The forecast for the next few days - TopicsExpress

Winfield Parents/Guardians, The forecast for the next few days calls for very cold temperatures that will be enhanced by the wind chill. The Winfield School District is planning to be in session on these days. The School District is concerned about the welfare of our students and their safety is our First Priority (A few suggestions are listed below). 1.) Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately (hats, gloves, scarves, and appropriate footwear.) 2.) If your child walks to school, please try to make arrangements for the child to be given a ride to school. Carpooling might be an option. 3.) If your child waits at a bus stop, we encourage you to make arrangements to let your child wait in a vehicle (or several students in a vehicle). Be confident that Winfield School District will continue to monitor the weather (with wind chill) in case we need to make adjustments. The following are a few items that the School District is enforcing to ensure your students safety. A.) The buses will be started and let run for a couple of hours during the night and early morning too make sure the engines run properly and the heaters work so your child has a warm ride to school. B.) The school building thermostats are programmed to ensure pipes do not freeze and classrooms are ready for students. The Winfield School District believes that it is important to continue to provide classroom instruction even when it is very cold outside. We highly encourage your student to attend classes, however the parent/guardian will always make the final decision Sincerely, Nancy Baker Superintendent of Schools
