Wing wins Round 1 in Oakland; PBR world title race tightens Two-time World Champion Bull Bushwacker awaits event winner Saturday night for $50,000 OAKLAND, California – While Stormy Wing won Round 1 of the Built Ford Tough Series Kawasaki Strong Battle at the Bay at the Oracle Arena Friday night, the Professional Bull Riders world title race continues to heat up. Three of the Top 5 riders rode to maintain their positions in the world standings. Wing rode Game Over (Humpz and Hornz/Diamond Bar Cattle) for 87.75 points to win the round, while also being the first of 11 riders to cover his bull on the night. Billy Robinson picked up 86.75 points atop El Capitan (Theiman Bucking Bulls) to place second and Jason Malone took third place with 85.75 points on Sanchez (Thieman Bucking Bulls). Stetson Lawrence took third place with 85.50 points on Closing Time (Flying V Bulls). To round out the Top 5, Stetson Lawrence took third place with 85.50 points on Closing Time (Flying V Bulls) while Josh Faircloth sits fifth this weekend, after posting 84 points on Houla Hoop (Humpz and Hornz/Sis Bucking Bulls). Current No. 1 bull rider in the world standings Joao Ricardo Vieira earned 75.25 points on White Out (Mindigo Bucking Bulls) to hold on to the top spot, but Fabiano Vieira’s 80.25-point effort on War Party (Bird Bucking Bull) puts him a mere 64.38 points behind in the No. 2 position in the PBR world standings. Round 2 and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round of the Kawasaki Strong Battle at the Bay will take place Saturday at 7 p.m. PT. The final rounds can be seen live on PBR LIVE at 10 p.m. ET at pbr/live, or on CBS Sport Network Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. Following the championship round on Saturday, the winner of the Oakland event will have an opportunity to take on two-time PBR World Champion Bull Bushwacker, the Bad Boy Mowers Bounty Bull. A successful 8-second ride atop the 1,760-pound athlete is worth $50,000 to the rider who wins the event. CBS Television Network will broadcast the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and the Bad Boy Mowers $50,000 Bounty Bull ride between Bushwacker and the event winner on Sunday at 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. ET.
