Winnipegs civic election is slated for October 22nd, and voters are cynical. Allegations of corruption and cronyism. Did you know that Winnipeg was once known as Chicago North? For good reason. Vancouvers election is just under a month later. The current city council is compose almost entirely of the ultra right wing, Vision Vancouver Party. Developers and corporations run the town. Always has been that way actually. But at times agitators can effect change. C.O.P.E. - Coalition Of Progressive Electors plans to run a full slate of candidates, including a Mayoralty candidate. Their chances are narrow, to say the least. Vancouver is a yuppie town. Well off people of all shapes and sizes you might say.. Then theres the civic election in our largest city - Toronto - October 27. No one needs to be advised on that one - Thanks to their crack smoking, bum pinching, hedonist Mayor Bob Ford. His brother is running for mayor and Bob has stepped aside - but hes still going to run for Council. In all of these elections there is a common theme - Big business/corporate right wing candidates dominate on all fronts here - A smattering of agitators - This is the sad thing. We are really a conservative country.
