Winter Storm Warning is in effect through Thursday night. A developing coastal storm brings significant accumulating and disruptive snow to Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley tonight and into Thursday night, before ending. Current snow accumulation projections for our area, 10 to 16 inches. Snow, heavy at times tonight into Thursday morning. Some locations in the Piedmont, could have some sleet mixed in with the snow Thursday morning. Wind will increase from the north 10-20 mph, with some higher gusts, on Thursday. This along with the snow, could result in power outages. Snow will continue through Thursday afternoon and early evening, before tapering off as the storm moves up the coast. As the snowstorm is underway, avoid travel. Travel conditions will remain quite hazardous.
