Winter Weather Update: A reminder that drizzle will continue - TopicsExpress

Winter Weather Update: A reminder that drizzle will continue overnight as temps cool in the low 30s. By 6am an arctic front will move into C OK creating a short window during rush hour of freezing drizzle in OKC and TUL. Be extra careful in the morning commute. Temperatures will actually get colder for the later half of the morning so conditions could quickly deteriorate before they improve as dry air moves in behind the front and clears out the drizzle. Expect conditions like this from N to S across the state during the early morning hours. Lets just say if its 32 degrees or less and you see drizzle or damp streets, better take it easy. Then all eyes focus on the potential snow producer coming into the state for late Tuesday. I say potential still because as I alluded to last week, its not set in stone as anything significant at this point. The models continue to fight each other with most now leaning towards an open elongated short wave vs a tight compacted bowling ball of energy. If you want snow and lots of it, you want the ball. Little snow you want the open wave. As it stands now, light snow should break out Tuesday evening across W OK and shift east overnight. Snow should leave the state by Wednesday afternoon. Amounts will likely range anywhere from 0 to 3. There will be a heavy band set up somewhere like what we saw a few Saturdays ago. Too early to nail down anything more specific. Ill update you as we get closer. As far as temps go, expect the cold weather to stick around until about Friday. At that time we might actually see some highs in the 50s for a couple of days before we go right back into the deep freeze.
