Winter is gone. (It is gone, right?) Time for spring cleaning. UVA JOINS ALDERMENS CLEAN-AND-GREEN EFFORTS The University Village Association is joining the citys spring cleaning efforts by participating in two Clean and Green days. A few good volunteers are needed: 9 a.m. - noon Saturday, April 19 in conjunction with 25th Ward Ald. Danny Solis office and 9 a.m. - noon Saturday, April 26 in conjunction with 2nd Ward Ald. Bob Fiorettis office. On either of these days, come to the UVA office, 1453 W. Taylor St., for brooms, shovels, etc. and your assignment. Then return at noon for lunch. You also will get a free T-shirt! Clean and Green is a fun way to meet neighbors and do a good deed for the community. Please respond to kathy@uvalittleitaly with your date of participation and T-shirt size and similar info about anyone you are bringing. In the meantime, residents are urged to clean gutters, sidewalks and parkways in front of homes and businesses now that the ice has melted, uncovering gross amounts of garbage. Ick! The city started street sweeping through the neighborhood Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3 to pick up dried leaves and debris in the gutter. Please review street-cleaning notice signs and move your cars on all street-sweeping dates so city crews can get their equipment in place to clean up the mess.
