Winter weather means reduced fire dangers and our crews on the - TopicsExpress

Winter weather means reduced fire dangers and our crews on the North Coast are taking advantage of the opportunity to complete prescribed burning (#RxBurn) projects. At Lack’s Creek northeast of Arcata, crews from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have helped us burn piles of brush and limbs. These piles are from our work to thin the forest by cutting small trees and brush. This reduces #wildfire risk, improves conditions for #wildlife and helps address a condition called Sudden Oak Death. The burning project will continue through May while conditions allow for safe and successful burning. Learn more about our fire program at on.doi.gov/15Qtg3Z #BLM photos by Leisyka Parrott.
