Winters here. Time to make sure your heating system is working. My secretary came in yesterday saying she had to leave early because she called a repairman to come to her home to fix her furnace that wasnt working. After a couple of questions, we discovered her thermostat wasnt showing anything in the display window. No numbers appeared in the display. If your thermostat has a display window, that means it operates on batteries for the power to run the unit. That signified her thermostats batteries were dead. I told her all she had to do was open the unit and replace the two triple A batteries. To make it easier, I looked up how to change the batteries on a thermostat on youtube. Below is what I found. The only other directions she needed was to put the batteries in facing the same direction which would probably be shown with + and - marks. The end with the little bump is the + end. She went home and changed her batteries, the furnace came on and she saved $130.00 on a service call. Your thermostat may look a little different but if it has a display window, its electric and needs new batteries every Fall. youtube/watch?v=I7HVsI93yWQ
