Wir sind die Champions #SRCC #GullyCricket “So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.” Team GBOites, comprising of Arpan Mittal, Karan Bisht, Karishma Yadav Pramod Abraham and Ritu Nehra, all from GBO 1st Year, took part in the intra Shri Ram of College Commerce sports extravaganza organized by the SRCC Sports Committee. They started off by winning Round 1 on Monday by a comfortable margin. Come Tuesday GBOites waltzed through Round 2 & 3 thanks to some exceptional catching by Karishma and all round performances by Karan and Pramod. Wednesday brought forth the crunch matches, as they started off by playing the Quarterfinals and winning it comfortably, but not without enduring some nervous moments in between. Semifinals pitted us against Team Daredevils, batting first we scored a mere 20 runs and were all out in just 4 over’s out of the allotted 5. This included losing 4 wickets in a single over to trigger a collapse, in spite of being 20 – 1 at one stage. Staring at a loss, GBOites brought out the best when it mattered the most, with exceptional dives at the boundary from Arpan and Ritu which saved important runs. Karan joined the party and took 3 wickets in an over to finally bring parity and close out the match with GBOites winning by a mere 2 runs. The road to the finals was a nervy affair, but the finals which pitted GBOites against Team Baazigar was a total contrast. Sticking to the same strategy GBOites batted first putting up 39 in the allotted 5 overs with Pramod scoring 22 of those. Baazigar were under pressure right from the start and their score line justified it, as they were all out for just a mere 1 run, with Pramod decimating their batting order by picking up 4 wickets in the very first over of the innings, thanks to brilliant catches by Arpan and Karan. This ensured a victory by a massive 38 runs and being crowned champions of SRCC.
