Wisdom: ..... that brings freedom from falsely conceived pains is the key to be happy forever. I was lucky to meet two great men of our era: Steven Pinker and Richard Dawkins. Those two interactions changed me forever. I can tell you Sumitra from my two separate personal encounters with them that they were amazingly simple and profoundly to the point each time they responded to my questions during our informal chats, for which I feel extremely lucky today. I immediately felt free. I know today that they have been two living people of great wisdom of our era, because, my questions had stumbled many high priests of all religions, many pseudo intellectuals who wear popular labels and carry long CVs, many literary and political heroes and other media sensations, whom I was lucky to meet in India and abroad. Yes, I do have a nagging spirit of asking the hard questions to famous and powerful. I was advised by many “wise” well-wishers to learn to avoid that route, at least out of consideration of politeness. Peace lovers do fear that they may expose the emperor who may be reigning monarchs with no clothes. So, it was a breath of fresh air when I met Dawkins and Pinker. They were for real; no need to bow down before them in fear or in greed for a quid pro quo. An honest and modest mind with a rational curiosity for knowledge is their recipe for love and happiness. Amazingly, I never felt in a state of boredom or depression about anything afterwards, as if, they had liberated me from any falsely conceived pain with their touch of wisdom. So, I thank you Sumitra for your post, which lit a spark in me to write up this instant status update for all my friends; and I do sincerely recommend that instead of doing meditation to reach salvation one should seek and find great minds like Pinker and Dawkins!
