Wishing a very happy birthday to my friend Lisa. Its the rare occasion to meet an artist whose work is so personally meaningful. Its a more rare instance to meet such a person and not be disappointed. And an even more rare is the gift to come to call such a person a friend. Her contributions to the Prince catalog are part of the soundtrack of my youth, forever etched in my heart and brain. And her music and lyrics as Wendy and Lisa Official Artist Page are the meditations that place her and Wendy as the Holy Spirit in My Own Private Trinity. Growing up as a boy who wasnt like other boys (and lifetimes away from knowing the concept of genderqueer), the Prince universe was a safe place for me. Today, Prince still wears eyeliner and heels, but spouts narrow-minded social views learned as a JW, Vanity and Sheila both found Jesus, and Wendy & Lisa are the only out and openly LGBTQ folks from the Purple Court.
