Wishing everyone a wonderful day tomorrow, hopefully with the ones you hold dear! As we all know, there are millions of women, men and juveniles who will spend another year away from family as a result of incarceration. We know we gotta smash that system, a system for which racism is so fundamental that the lifetime likelihood for a Black woman to enter prison is 1 in 19, and for Black men, 1 in 4--based on current rates of incarceration. Sit on that for a minute. Add to that, 64% of all women in prison or jail have minor kids, who will now be at statistically higher risk of incarceration themselves. We must do that smashing through advocacy and organizing, including education and creative forms of direct action. So, why not do a little smashing with holiday gifts for kids?
