Wishing we had better news from the Oral surgeon tonight on Harrisons jaw. The arch bars will stay in place until next week! 😔 We have an appointment next Monday to see the Dr. again and to have more X-rays. At this point, we have been told his jaw is only 80% healed and if the Dr. takes the arch bars out now and the next scan shows its just not healing.... Harrison would have to go back to the OR. We dont want that! So...... The bars are staying in. I did finally have a chance to talk to this surgeon about what exactly is in his mouth... This is what I didnt know....Harrison has a bar at the top and bottom of his teeth. These bars are anchored by screws that are fixated through the root of each tooth.... OUCH!!! Poor buddy! No wonder he is so miserable! It truly breaks my heart! In one week when the Dr takes another scan... One of two things will happen. He will either get them out on the 2nd. Or more bands will be put in so it can heal. Diet will be 30 more days of a soft diet with NO chewing! This is also what I Dont know.... Can we loose the trach and peg tomorrow as scheduled? I guess we will know tomorrow! I have one little brave boy here and needs all the prayers he can get!
