Wishing you A happy Meskel, today I would like to raise one agenda for discussion. I would like to see all fellows in facebook discussing on the agenda with civility and mature perspectives. It is obvious that governments make decisions in the name of their people. in a democratic society the people are the powerful and ultimate source of power. Governments has to make decisions on behalf of their people, but not on the basis of their own will. I raised this introductory comment because now a days it is an open fact that different opposition parties and dignitaries as well as educated elite are commenting on the TPLF`s unilateral decision to offer Eritrea a status of sovereign state with two ports in Massawa and Assab. The commentaries are diverse as they but two points are boldly underlined. 1. When TPLF acknowledged the independence of Eritrea they had no public consent nor mandate to undergo the referendum or the declaration of independence neither. Because at that time TPLF was a transitional government whose sole responsibility was effecting a safe transition into the new system. As a result TPLF didn`t have legal right to make this kind of decision. 2. Ethiopia would have got the port of Assab if TPLF wouldn`t offer it to Eritrea willfully. So many equate TPLF as a government which is not determined to fulfill public demand compromising Ethiopia`s right to own a sea outlet. This issue is repeated once again after the Ethio-Eritrea war by signing the devastating "Algiers treaty" which was binding in its essence and favours Eritrea than Ethiopia despite Ethiopia had ample evidence to end the war in its favour. Then people say this is a second mistake. Dear friends what do you say about this. It is constructive to make a sort of dialogue on this issue. I will return with another current issue at the end of this discussion
