With 72 hours to go before Halloween I want to begin highlighting some of the greatest scare films as suggestions for you Friday viewing. I cannot say enough about this film from 1982 except to say that it is in my top three favorites of all time. Initially consider a flop at the box office (partly because the family friendly alien - ET - warming hearts with its release two weeks earlier), While John Carpenters The Thing made your blood run cold. Today The Thing is considered a cult classic and a horror masterpiece with numerous accolades showered upon it. In my book this film is: 1) The single best remake (reboot - before the term ever existed) of all time. 2) The best use of paranoia in cinema history. 3) The greatest use of REAL (not cgi) make-up effects in film - hats off to Rob Bottin 4) The best trapped like rats story - and yes, better than The Shining. 5) One of the greatest monster movies of all time. You heard me Jaws lovers 6) In the top ten horror movie masterpiece (Id say top 5) - JCs Halloween is top 10 too. This film is not for the faint of heart or those with a weak stomach. Greatness. See it- ow.ly/DvstL
