With An Pierlé & Marie Daulne & on our first Run To Seed live - TopicsExpress

With An Pierlé & Marie Daulne & on our first Run To Seed live clip, Satyagraha filmed at La Monnaie De Munt, and in the words of Antoine : A couple of months ago I started writing this song to express my conviction that dualistic thinking is the creator of all wars, and compassion for both sides (as difficult as that can be) is the key to stop them by destroying their legitimacy. In the process of discussing those matters I lost a friend who considered that if youre (exclusively) on his chosen side youre on the side of the enemy. That experience has been quite hard for me and I spent a lot of time thinking, reading and writing about war, peace, compassion, revolution, and communication. And this song came out of that need to focus on peace, communicate that opposition is a war mechanism whereas compassion and support is one of peace. Three personalities came to mind when writing about that, all active in the same time period : Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, and Rosa Parks. They tried to spread similar messages but ended up being wildly misunderstood. I think we are ready to hear them again now though and this is why I chose to quote them in the song. My dear wife Susan then picked up the song and we finished it together (we confronted our visions and she brought in some of her beautiful words - including the main one that summarizes it all, coined by Gandhi : Satyagraha). We applied for La Monnaie De Munts protest song competition and - together with 6 other songwriters - were selected to play on their Peace gala (Songs Not Bombs), a great initiative by the opera houses Empowerment department (that says it all!) and Krystian Lada. Marie Daulne (from Zap Mama), An Pierlé and Koen Gisen supported and inspired us throughout the preparation for the gala. I am now proud and happy to present you the video (filmed by Jonatan Lyssens) of our performance of the song at the beautiful opera house of La Monnaie/De Munt, with the kind participation of An Pierlé and Marie Daulne.
