With Christmas behind us, our attention turns to the New Year. - TopicsExpress

With Christmas behind us, our attention turns to the New Year. Amidst the partying and hoopla and making of New Years resolutions is a hope that the coming year will be better than the year that is just ending. Well be thinner, richer, more problem-free than weve been. Life will turn a corner, and well enter a magical world where all is wonderful. Perhaps this will occur. Sometimes things do take a turn for the magnificent. If they do, terrific! But if we consider a year to have been a good year or a bad year, we are judging it. And if we judge, then we are seeing things through the prism of our ego and through the stories that our ego has created - stories about what our lives should be like. Our egos, our personalities, have created stories about who we are. The degree to which our lives match those stories can determine the extent to which we are content or dissatisfied with life. Either way, it is our ego that wins. If our lives match the story we have created for ourselves, then the ego can feel satisfied and might even make us feel superior. If our lives have fallen short of our expectations, then our egos can tell us, You shouldve been better - making us try even harder to create a life that fits the story our ego has created for us. But whether we feel our lives match the story weve been telling ourselves and whether or not there is a dramatic change for the better in the coming year, let us remember what is always new and at the same time the only thing that is enduringly stable: the Divine. The only durable, indestructible thing in our lives is the Divine. Everything else is impermanent, interdependent, vulnerable. All of us at some point have felt deeply touched by some aspect of the Divine - Love, Light, Peace, Joy, or some other attribute of the Divine. We dont need a New Years resolution to seek that attribute more diligently in 2015. We just need to acknowledge that it is here, right now. Right at this very moment, Divine perfection is within us and surrounding us. That energy of Divine Love or Divine Peace or Divine Joy is right here, right now. All we have to do is acknowledge it. So let us do that. First, pick a Divine attribute that you most strongly identify with (Love, Light, Peace, Joy, Truth, Spirit, etc.). Then, let your eyes rest on an object in front of you. It could be anything - a chair, the carpet, a wall. Silently say to yourself, Divine _________ (the Divine attribute you have selected) is here, now, within this object. Just keep repeating this until you feel the Divine presence within that object. Next, use this prayer for every other object and every other person you can think of: Divine _____________ is within this object / person, right now. At some point, you will feel your consciousness expand, until you have a knowing that this Divine attribute is within all that is. You will feel the purity, the freshness, the newness of this Divine attribute. You will know that this is the eternal newness that you seek. You will know that within this Divine attribute, all is well; everything is as is should be. All is Divine. And your Divine New Year will have begun! Love and Light, Tully
