With Debra sick, weve re-watched almost all of Avatar: the Last Airbender. It got the thought of an Avatar Magic set in my head again. Also, designing Magic cards is just plain fun. So heres a maybe last stab at a basic arrangement, using wedges: Earth Kingdom - WBG Water Tribe - URG Fire Nation - BRW Air Nomads - RWU Spirit World - GUB Primary colors dont fit a tidy pattern like clans allied colors, but each wedge is represented, and the colors are distributed evenly. I think the concept for the set would be the entire Fire Nation war, spanning the hundred years from Aangs disappearance through the show. That way Air Nomads still get represented. Bending seems an obvious choice for some kind of mechanic. Each nation should have a unique mechanic, as well. I think bending itself might be a set-wide mechanic rather than having each bending be unique. For instance, it might be [element]bending (reveal [associated card type] from you hand to [effect]), so the effect is universal (draw, untap, reduce mana cost of something, etc.). For instance, Waterbending (You may reveal an enchantment card from your hand to reduce [cards] activated abilities by [U].). Earthbending = land, firebending = instant, airbending = sorcery. There isnt any spiritbending, so maybe theres an extra spirit mechanic.
