With Detroit going bankrupt and people vacating the area, it has left a huge problem with stray and abandoned dogs running the streets of Detroit and taking over certain areas of the city. It has been estimated that around 50,000 stray dogs are now running loose in Detroit. I have put together a list of links about this issue, so you can read various stories and see what is going on there. It has become an epidemic and Detroit needs help rescuing and placing as many of these dogs as possible. Everything from abandoned pet dogs to abandoned drug house guard dogs are running rampant through Detroit. And no matter what they used to be, they are now strays and I am sure the problem will only get worse. Just imagine when the dogs of irresponsible people, who didn’t spay and neuter them, get together and start multiplying. Pretty soon Detroit is going to be known as Dogtown and that’s nothing to joke about. This also makes for an even more dangerous place for the people who remain in Detroit. It’s bad enough the city has run amuck and criminals are a bigger threat than ever, but now they have packs of hungry dogs roaming the streets and looking for food. They say Detroit is nearly post-apocalyptic, so I can imagine how dangerous it must be there. Godspeed, to any good citizens who are still in the Detroit area, I would advise you to get out and take some dogs with you. And the same issue applies to cats, which, I am sure, have become a food source for the multitude of stray dogs, sad to say. If anyone in the surrounding area, or further, can help with any of these dogs, please contact Detroit Dog Rescue. I am including their contact and website info, below.
