With Dianes permission I post these pics since many have asked how shes doing. Beware, they might be a bit graphic for you. Perhaps she was prophesying what was to come. Here are the misadventures of the Road Rash Riders: When we checked into Cycle Oregon Friday, we were trying to figure out the name of our team. Because of my bike accident last year, and Judith Bakers five weeks ago, Diane suggested Road Rash Riders, we laughed and said o.k. until we come up with a better name. Saturday mornings ride came and we realized we didnt have a better name, so on went our license plates and off we pedaled. At about the 25 mile mark, we descended the first climb. The road reached up and tripped Diane, and down she went, elbow and head striking the pavement before sliding off into the brush. Fortunately, her injuries were not worse than they are, and no bones were broken. While Judith innocently rode on the mid-ride loop, Diane and I waited for the medics to arrive. About 1 1/4 hrs later, we arrived at McMinnville Medical Center where we spent the next 4 1/2 hrs getting her checked out and stapled up. Two or three other Cycle Oregon cyclists ended up in the ER as well during the time we were there. Fortunately, for them as well, no serious injuries occurred. Diane is covered with impressive scarlet-hued abrasions from shoulder to ankle on her left side, a couple bumps on her head, and of course, this beauty of an injury to her elbow. The strong road warrior she is, her body has gone straight to work healing
