With Facebook friends expressing interest, with my Yolanda Tejada de Guzman and her daughters so supportive, this past two weeks has been my most rewarding Online Retreat. The Retreats encouragement received daily : Start the day in prayer; listen and remember the word throughout the day, follow it in good faith. In honest testimony, one member felt that prayer was something she often promised, you know, Ill be praying for ... but she just actually didnt finish the sentence, didnt follow through ... she really thought about her promise but didnt speak it aloud to the Lord. Folks, that testimony went straight to a tender memory ... to my own Moms story about when she told her minister that, except for the prayers she knew by heart, she wasnt sure that she really knew how to pray. She said that the minister asked her, Vera, if you really knew how to pray, what would you ask of the Lord? So, Mom simply told the minister that she really didnt need anything for herself, but that she would ask the Lord to watch over her kids! Well, the minister told her that was quite a prayer all by itself! But he also suggested that she could invoke prayer just by singing her favorite hymns ... of course, Mom said that her voice wasnt what it used to be! So, the minister told her that humming her favorite hymns would get the Lords attention, too!! In the delightful blog, Making Time for God, used during the second week of the Retreat, the author Lucy closed with one of her favorite songs : Through It All ... and Ive been humming it all evening!
