With Genevieve, Iselle and Julio brewing in the tropics it’s been quite a week for NOAA Pacific operations. And although Iselle is making a hasty exit from Hawaii, the tropical cyclone continues its westward trek. In Iselles path were 11 NOAA researchers on three isolated islands more than 900 nautical miles northwest of Hawaii. NOAA requested assistance from the US Navy to evacuate those researchers and, late yesterday, they were safely evacuated and transported to Midway Atoll.
